No, not a chance.
I'm a Yankee fan, I've seen the way they have played this year.
Unless the Red Sox sustain some injuries and collapse like last year the Yanks don't have a ghost of a chance.
The Red Sox only really have to play 500 ball for the rest of the year to stay ahead and on top. Plus, the Yankee's schedule seems alot more arduous this half.
I never give up hope, though- the Yankee magic is very elusive and mysterious.

Honestly I'm a Yankee fan. To be quite honest it will be hard if not a miracle if we catch up. The Red Sox nor the Yankees have a steady winning streak, but the Red Sox obviously been winning more. If the Yankees become a bit more stable and the Red Sox become a bit more unstable, the Yankees would have a chance!!

The yanks can catch them. They are 9 games back, and have an easy july and early august. They play toronto, tampa bay, kansas city (twice), baltimore, and chicago, all of them are sub-.500 teams. They still have 6 games remaining against the red sox, so they realistically need to take five, or all six of those. Shilling is still out, and ortiz is banged up. The yanks have philip hughes coming back, and hopefully jason giambi. Lets also not forget that a big move can still be made by the trading deadline, but for that to happen they have to play well in the next week or two.

As a neutral Pirates fan I must say the Yankees will not catch the Bosox with the team they now have. In order for them to even have a chance, the Yanks must make some major trades to strengthen their pitching. The Yankees have 3 pitchers in the rotation over 35 years old--they must get younger and better immediately in order to make the playoffs.

i'll tell you this much , if any team can do it it's the proud yankees . but i don't know about this year . the redsox have to much going for them right now . you know the yankees are in trouble when they bring back some of their stars from the past and it still isn't working . anyways the yankees are well overdue for a let down .even the yankees winners of 26 world series titles, 39 american leauge pennants can't win ever year because their only human !!!

Look the yankees have ZERO TEAM CHEMISTRY
lemme repeat that
ZERO TEAM CHEMISTRY
Each and every one of these guys want to hit a home run and be a hero everytime...thats just not gonna get it done
They don't play team ball at all...they have the right tools with speedy guys like ARod, Melky and Jeter but they haven't utilized them enough
Their pitching is horrible...guys don't feed off each other and all those pitchers look like they are just going through their motions...they show no emotion or enthusiasm at all.
Their bullpen is burned out due to overuse by Joe Torre and all these guys are really tired already at the mid point of the season.
I don't see this team come together as a strong unit and put together a solid run for the playoffs...jus don't see it happening
THEY HAVEN'T DONE THAT SINCE DAY 1...so why would they all of a sudden???
i guarantee you Yanks will cut the red sox lead down to 3 or 4 games..but still that won't be enough to win the division or the wild card since the mariners and the athletics are doing very well on top of the wild card race

I say that they can,it only takes 1 week for them to be back in it.If the Bo-sox lost 6-7 games in a row and the Pin-strippers win 6-7 in a row they are right back in the hunt.Stranger things have happened
