Well, there are forums (boards) that cover a lot of topics on one board, but there are also sites, boards, and mailing list groups that deal with all kinds of specific crafts. Most are free, you just have to find the ones you like the best in terms of what they cover, who posts in them, the level of expertise, etc. Try some of these, which cover a lot of topics at one site:

i am a participant with the following forum, in there i get to discuss issues, ask questions and generally have a chat about everything craft related or not. The folks on this website/forum are really helpful
