Hey yesterday in Japan there was an earthquake and then some aftershocks in the afternoon.
Later that night I (In Hokkaido) felt an earthquake later that night, did anyone else living in Japan feel an earthquake last night? I was surprised that I would feel it all the way up here in Hokkaido. I text my friends and they all felt it too.

Yes, there was an earthquake at around 23:30 and I was shocked to see on www.jma.go.jp how long it was. It stretched from Eastern Hokkaido all the way down to Tokyo. I have never seen anything like it! Scary!

The epicenter of the earthquake in Hokkaido last night was under the Japan sea in north of Kyoto prefecture, not near Hokkaido.
Although the epicenter was underground of Japan sea near Kyoto, It occurred in the plate which Hokkaido belongs. That is why Kyoto had no earthquake, but Hokkaido had.
By the way, this epicenter is different from the Niigata quake.

Yes, my friend lived on the 4th level near yokohama and she told me she felt the tremor yesterday. I couldnt cos I lived on the 1st floor. I have not felt any tremor despite living here for about half a year although all my friends said they have UNTIL one day when I was having lunch near Tama Plaza, I felt the vibration but I thought is a passing train! Luckily my friends were there and told me this is an earthquake tremor. At least I could differentiate one now.

The quake was in Niigata. If it was from the same system there, it must have been quite a strong one to reach Hokkaido.
