What would you do if someone you lived with threw a party and invited people you weren't comfortable around, therefore you leave and... when you get home the next morning you find all of your tanks have had bleach put into them? Whoever did this also put bleach into my cat's water bowl, they intentionally killed all my babies, and luckily enough my cat was smart enough not to drink the water so she is fine. I had 3 female bettas, 2 male bettas, 2 fancy goldfish, a plecostomus, 3 glo-fish and 3 panda corydoras cats. How would you deal with this?

1. File a police report for the damages and for cruelty to animals. Also give them a list of everyone at the party if possible and ask them to dust the tanks for prints, something might happen.

2. Contact the ASPCA and let them know about it as well, hopefully they will help remind the police that it's important.

3. Look for a new roommate asap. This one obviously doesn't care about your feeling or your property. The next party will only be worse, I promise.

4. Contact a lawyer about filing a civil suit against your room mate and the person(s) responsible once they are identified. DON'T let them weasel out of it, they will only do worse to you or someone else next time.

Hi, What an awful thing to happen-I'm so sorry for your loss. I would certainly involve the police but I suggest you contact your local animal welfare organisation first & tell them you want to prosecute this person to the fullest extent of the law-they will be able to advise you best how to go about it. Not only is this a serous case of animal cruelty but also in the eyes of the law it is criminal damage.

It's a good thing your cat is safe but your poor fish will have suffered terribly at the hands of this scumbag. I would suggest that if the person you live with is not willing to support you 100% in this & that means no more parties with people you don't like then you two have serious issues & perhaps are not as suited as you thought.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, I hope you can find some peace of mind.

I absolutely agree with MM
Go to the police and file a police report, and give them all the names of the people that where at the party

That is absolutely cruel and also called animal abuse

I just hope you meant by babies not kittens?!?!

Kick out your roommate and file a suit against her, if she/he sees that you mean business, maybe the person/s who did it will come forward on there own and will fess up to it

I hope the best and wish you luck

I'm so sorry for you that happened, it's a damn shame that people can do something like that

By the way, you're still able to use these tank, you just have to wash them down with hot water and let them try out and unfortunately you have to start all over

Also, any new things you need to purchase to get your tanks up and running again, you need to keep all the receipts that you're able to show them at court when you go there

Good luck

I would demand that that person or your roommate that had the party pay you damages. Your roommate also needs to be the one to completly drain and clean the tanks properly and set them back up. Then they will realize how much work goes into them. After they have to deal with that, they're not likely to invite that jerk back again.

As for babies...were you still talking about cats there? If that's the case, turn them in for animal abuse. You can't just go around killing kittens. Those people need to be tied up, staked, and left to die of thirst and hunger in the middle of a field somewhere!

I would of called the police and make a report. Whoever did it would be in serious trouble for animal cruelty.

Then I would move out as soon as possible. It's not safe for you there.

On a lighter side. Don't let the roommate cook you anything.

Good luck!

contact the local authorities and ask them. you could most likely sue for destruction of property.
you should call the ASPCA and PETA as well. there is such a thing as animal police. i watch it on animal planet all the time!
just keep calling people until you get an answer.
i would take this to the fullest extent of the law if i were you.

I would have to have a serious talk with my room mate!! Arer you rooming with them, or are they with you? Either way, you need to communicate about boundaries and how wrong this was. You don't need to be judgemental about the party throwing - especially if you are not a party person. But it is not ok for them to destroy things that are yours. If they are rooming with you, I thinkreal hard before a renewed a lease with them, and if you are rooming with them, I'd get out of there ASAP.

Hope it works out.....

DONT USE THE TANKS AGAIN! bleach can be impossible to get out of them. basically you have to replace everything, not just the fish. and that can be really costly. Call the cops. There has got to be something that they can do. If you can find out who did it, make them replace everything or sue for emotional damages or something. That really is terrible. I would also suggest moving.. you dont want anything like that to happen again, and be extra careful with the cat the next few days make sure no harm comes to her.

i would tell whoever i lived with that there is no more they killed animals thats a crime and you shouldnt have to take any of that whoever did it . Thats beyond sick. What kind of person would do that. If i didnt like someone i wouldnt kill there animals. Not liking you has nothing to do with sweet innocent animals.
