According to the World Heath Organization report, men are five times more likely to die of 'Violence' than women. If that is the case, then why is the media and many special interest groups so bent on stopping violence against women when it occurs five times less than it does against men?

This question is not intended to be sexist.

Here is the World Health Organization's multi-national comprehensive study about the world-wide problem of domestic violence caused by men against women in their own homes. Men are five times more likely to die in violence than women because men war and kill each other more than they even kill their women and children at home.

I agree. I don't think it is fair that there is so media coverage or any type of awareness when it comes to the violence of men. On the other hand, I believe that there are more groups that take an interest to stop violence against women is because more of women's violence is domestic, unlike mens.

Look up Freud on hysteria and the 1964 study the wife beater's wife. Also educate yourself on the ACA report in the 70 's and how psychiatry tried to change how women and children were treated in mental health situations. They were roundly defeated. No matter the over whelming evidence this is still a plain site area Americans and the world ignore. If we were to stop domestic violence and child abuse we would reduce prison counts, hospitalizations for mental and physical abuses, and stop a cycle that is thousands of years old. The impact in goodness this would produce will not be allowed in this world. But please try.

People want to stop violence all together - it's not like male on male violence is ignored; there are plenty of organizations, fundraisers, and laws against it. I suppose that back in the '60's, violence against women became a "special interest" issue because of its nature; it's domestic and it was previously hidden and not spoken about. I also think the reason it gets so much attention is because in the larger scheme of things, it was used as a tool to oppress women.

The violence against women is visited upon them by their boyfriends and husbands, and only within the last 40 years has been taken seriously by law enforcement and legislators. The violence against men is from fighting each other, wars, etc. You can't compare apples to oranges. Both should be stopped.

I see where your coming from and I agree, but the reason is that violence is more likely to happen to a women because we are seen as weak. Men are just more likely to die from it.

I agree with Baba Yaga. There's no comparison. I was a victim of domestic violence & he was from a police family. Who was I going to call?
