I agree with the above answers, the Deuce is the best way to go.

Monorail info
http://www.lvmonorail.com >There are coupons in the "What's On" LV magazine, $8 for a 24 hour pass, this does make the cost more reasonable.
Taxi >This will give you the cost to/from hotels/airport etc

Strip Trolley
http://www.lasvegasstriptrolley.com
If you're traveling light(carry on luggage) you can take the city bus from McCarran to your hotel. The CAT stops at the airport every 6 minutes, or, you can wait in line a very long time for a taxi. Go to "Ground Level Transportation 0" >It's only $2.50 for a 24 hour CAT pass, you can ride the Deuce with this CAT pass, but they will charge you an extra .50c then give you another 24 hour pass.

The Deuce is almost always better however sometimes it pays to take the monorail.
During high traffic times like on the weekend nights, the strip hardly moves so neither does the deuce. You can spend an hour going from MGM to the Vanetian. In this case, the monorail is worth it because it will take twenty minutes.
Overall, the monorail is a faster mode of transportation. But since the stations are in the back of the casino, most of the time savings can be lost walking to and from.
The Deuce is still one of the best deals in Vegas at 5$ for 24 hours.
Have a great time.

All the answers above are correct, However, during peak hours the Deuce is actually two rides for the price of one > its a sardine can and a sauna! Also you can wait for quite a while, as bus after bus goes by where you are waiting, if they are full or the driver is in a bad mood > which happens enough to merit consideration as part of your day and evening travel plans.

I like the deuce better. It's $5 for 24hrs worth of rides. You can get on and off anywhere on the strip, and it stops near every major hotel.
The monorail I found to be fun just to get a look at things, but it dosen't really get you to everything the way the bus does.

The Deuce is way better. It stops near all the major strip hotels, and also near the Fremont Street Experience. Its the best way to get around Vegas.
