I know the common sense thing is to loose weight, but that could take up to two years. I really would like to have a child soon. Any advice?

See your specialist. I have two sister-in-laws who are both diabetic and they each had to have their sugar levels monitored for 12 months until it was safe to fall pregnant. Then, they had to be monitored fairly heavily throughout their pregnancies to maintain their health and that of their babies'.

Talk to your dr. I probably think your doc will tell you to be on a strict diet and to lose weight first. I guess you probably know that overweight and being diabetic goes hand in hand (mostly) Have you tried to lose weight before? There is a health risk but then there are so many heavier women who have beautiful and healthy children. Just be aware of the risk. It might give you the extra strength to loose some weight beforehand. Good Luck.

BTW, can you vote for my girl. She is a finalist and we need some support..TY

I think that I am the same way, diabetes run in my family I may have PCOS. I agree with everyone else I don't have the insurance yet to go to the doc but if you have insurance and it covers go get checked they will be able to really help you out.

You really need to go discuss these issues with an OB. You can have a baby and be overweight. Diabetics can have babies too, but need care from an OB. Good luck.
