I'm for legalization. I think keeping it illegal is a waste of time and a violation of civil rights.

I'm 28 now. If 50 years from now, it hasn't been legalized, I'll be a sad person. What kind of country is this if we can't fix legislation that is wrong?

I don't think it should be illegal -- no more than liquor is -- and I certainly don't believe possession should incur such a huge penalty, as if marijuana were of the same level of harm as, say, heroine. I especially believe that it should be available for medical use, and that "hemp" as a textile product has gotten a bad rep because of the war on drugs, when in fact it was just the victim of a smear campaign by timber interests.

All that said? I don't touch the stuff, myself. It IS illegal, no matter my opinion, and life's easier if I stay on the legal side of things.

21 and older...legal with restrictions compared to DUI... IE determine what are "safe" levels for operating a vehicle...how much is considered being high.

Sell to a minor....15 years automatic in prison. Pass a law instructing any retailer they are authorized to refuse the sale to anyone they believe has provided a fake ID. Said customer has NO recourse for refusing the sell.

It's probably dangerous answering this question with "Big Brother" watching my computer, but it is the least dangerous recreational drug out there, including alcohol. And banning medical marijuana is just stupid. It's already been proven to help people with cancer, AIDS, glaucoma, etc & states which passed laws approving its use for medicinal purposes were overridden by the Federal Gov't, making people who were allowed to grow a few plants for their own use (CA) criminals.

I'm skeptical about legalization. It's not crazy idea, but it will not work for every country. People say it will save money for less law enforcement spending, but more pot smoking could reduce productivity and cost entire economy more than it save money. It is extremely hard thing to predict. What might happen it is legalized.

I am all for legalizing it as soon as we can develop a rapid test that can tell the concentration in your blood stream (like the breathalyzer). I've heard that they can detect pot in your blood for as long as a month. Once they come up with a more accurate test, I would be all about legalizing it. I wouldn't use it, but then, I don't smoke regular cigarettes either.

First, let me say that I would consider myself a conservative. That means that I consider intrusive government wrong. Marijuana should be legal for me to use. I own my body, and the government does not. It is none of their business what I do with myself, so long as I don't harm others.

Legalize it, and tax the crap out of it like cigarettes and alcohol. Instead of spending money putting folks in jail for possesion, you could make money on the legal sale of the vice. Just an old hippy's oppinion. Peace!

1st of all I am Conservative, well technically I am a Moderate Conservative.

I avoid Marijuana but I am interested in a test law called growth and personal usage.

Under this test law, one would be allowed to grow Marijuana on their own property and use it on their own property and the property owners would decide if Marijuana is legal or illegal on their property instead of the Government.

hurts a hell of a lot less people than alcohol. You never see someone high racing down the freeway at 120 mph, they're in the right lane doing 55 and enjoying every min of it
