CMOS Reset

If you are talking about a system password on the hardware itself, there is usually a jumper that you can short to clear the password in the BIOS CMOS memory.

If you are referring to the Microsoft Windows password, it is a totally different situation. Try "Guest" with no password. Also try "Administrator" for login with no password or with Administrator as the password. (If that does not work you can try hacking but better to re-install windows.)

what is the operating system ?

you can always elevate a guest user to admin if you know anything about hacking and then reset the password or if it is xp pro or home most likely the user didn't set the administrator password and you cna start the computer in safe mode and reset the password or download passware kit 8 from www.lostpassword.com and they sell a kit. If you have access to the internet i have a progrma that works also.

If its Win 98 - find and delete all *.WAB files.

These are the files that hold passwords.

Win 98 - ain't very secure - Passwords don't mean a thing.

OR

Start it in SAFE MODE (F8) to bypass all the junk loading and uninstall the offending program
