no, there is nothing great about it, she is more materialistic looking than paris hilton, and i really don't plan on keeping track on any news about them at all.

Honestly I'm stoked that he's coming to America. He's just the person that we need to boost soccer in the US.
Here's my points:
1. He's pretty good, granted he's past he prime but he can still "bend it", if you will.
2. He's not afraid of the media and knows how to handle it so he'll be a great poster child for US soccer.
3. He doesn't have any shady encounters like the Kobe Bryant incident (at least that I'm aware of)
Now I know a lot of people are going to think that he's just going to,
A. Start sucking and just live a life of glamor in California
B. Not be able to bring in the crowds of America to watch "soccer". Just like when Pele came to the NY Cosmos back in the day.
My rebuttals are
A. He had a slump through most of last season but towards the end of the season he stuck it out and started training really hard and broke back into the starting line up to help his club win the league and get back in the England squad. So I think that's proof of his commitment to play at a high level still.
B. Basically I think that Pele and company brought the crowds to soccer games but after they stopped playing there wasn't the stability in the league that there is now. So after Beckham is done the MLS will continue to grow. (The Red Bulls signed Juan Pablo Angel from another Premier League team)

While Beckham is not that great at the sport of soccer, he is widely recognized. Hockey in the US was very unpopular until Wayne Gretzky came to Los Angeles, and now stadiums are packed full and players are making millions of dollars more. MLS (Major League Soccer) has not had much success either in popularity or financially and bringing a famous person who will get the Los Angeles crowd going to a game to "be cool" will certainly put a spark in the whole league.

there really is nothing too special about it, but the percetion that makes people obsess over it is this: the british invented soccer, and they are a worldwide powerhouse in football, they have at least 5 of the top 50 players in the wolrd right now, and beckham is easily the most popular soccer star in the world (not even on of thetop 50 in the world, but THE most marketable player EASILY, so he is supposedly going to make soccer in the usa as big as it is in britain, germany, france, brazil, italy etc. as where now soccer is like the 5 most popular sport in the us behind basketball, (american) football, baseball, hockey, and the most marketable player in the wolrd has come to the us because he can't cut it in the league of the best players in the world (FA Premiership) so he comes to the us, where not one of the worlds top players resides, so they are thinking there will be an influx of world class players fdrom britain, brazil, italy, france, etc. and eventually the mls will become the nba of soccer, where the best players in the world will all come to the usa to play soccer, but i think the best players will never be all in the mls, i think they will all stay in germany, britain, france, italy, etc. i don't see the us as ever beign a powerhouse in soccerm or as ever being the elite league of soccer, but this is why they blow it up, thinking beckham will bring soooooo much attention to the us soccer scene and all the other briliant soccer players from europe and south amierca will move to the us to play soccer (not gonna happen)

Not me. He is sexy but, what does it accomplish... nothing, except maybe that Beckham now lives in the USofA and is getting a huge paycheck for it. Not to mention Posh's status has gone sky high as being his wife.

Not really because hes just one player and most people dont care about soccer in the US. Plus he's coming to the LA where the biggest soccer fans are Latin so it would be better if it was a Latin superstar.

Anyone who follows England cares. LA Galaxy cares because they will get global attention and many beckham fans care. Also, alot of people who are interested in fashion will care because the Beckhams are a very fashionable couple.

Only the media and the English care. Otherwise, no! I couldn't care less. They are fake and she never smiles!

This is how such things are created. Here you are at the water cooler talking about it despite your wish to be disinterested.
