There really are no "saltwater" or "freshwater" tanks - any tanks can be used for either.

What's more important to consider is your filtration when choosing your tank. If you want to use a sump/wet/dry filter, you should get either an acrylic tank so you can drill an overflow, or a pre-drilled glass tank (this is assuming you will put the sump/filter beneath the main tank and use a gravity feed). Some types, like the Oceanic brand, come with an overflow and some of the plumbing for this included.

If you're planning to use a hang on or a canister on the tank itself, the standard Perfecto or All-Glass tanks are perfectly good (and less expensive).

I'm not sure what you mean but a 6 foot tank would typically be a 120 gallon, 125 gallon or 180 gallon tank.

what do you mean you can get a 50 gallon tank if you are really serious because most saltwater fish need lots of room but if your not you should get a smaller one with smaller fish. and if you get a six foot tank with coral in it you need a special ligh to keep the coral alive. and also if this is youre first saltwater tank i strongly advise to get asmaller one because they are VERY expensive and require lots of skills, money , and work.
