What is the process to change your last name? Where do you go in order to do so? (Legally)

You have to file a petition with the Court and you have to have a
reason for why you want a last name change. If the Judge rules in your favor, there's a lot of other channels that your new name has to go through. It would be best to hire a lawyer, your lawyer can file the appropriate motions to get it done for you.

PS. good luck!

Go to your local state court branch. There will be a form you fill out, and they will tell you the steps involved after that.

Usually, you need to provide a copy of your birth certificate, your marriage certificate (if that is the reason for the name change, but not otherwise) and pay a small fee (usually under $100).
