{He was a great man that I cared for at a nearby nursing facility, he will be sorely missed}
(Love you Bobby)

I’m Still It........

Bobby was a kid at heart
since the tender age of three
Stricken by Scarlet fever
He remained that child indeed

Bobby was fifty-six years old
when he suffered a heart attack
while roaming through the hallways
as the police or playing tag

I knew Bobby just two years
in a walker racing askew
Screaming out a siren
warning all he’s coming through

I’d play tag with Bobby
if it didn’t hurt my job
He liked to sneak up on me
so I’d say “I see you Bob”

Just to see him smile and laugh
it truly made my days
He’ll never know I loved him
and all his silly ways

He’d meet me at the time clock
to be sure he tagged me last
Yesterday, he did and I’m still it
I’ll never get him back..........

Heartfelt poem. First two stanzas need work as the rhyme pattern you pick up in stanza three and follow until the end needs to be started from the beginning. Last line need not follow the pattern as you're indicating a break in continuity anyway, so an unrhymed word there works well.

Good poem, fix the first two stanzas.

A wonderful tribute, what a great person he sounded one of lifes larger characters that you are sometimes lucky to encounter. I bet Bobby would be pleased as punch. All love x

Though some of the rhymes are obviously imprecise, that is utterly negated by the fact that your poem is heartfelt, and clever. It's really very touching, and the poignancy that you'll always be "it" is very strong.

He sounds like he was fun, and I can pretty much guarantee that he greatly appreciated you.

If there will be services for Bobby, you should attend and read the poem.
