divide the top number by the bottom number. Example 1 divided by4, 1/4, for 1.00 / 4 = .25

1/5 = 1.00 divided by 5 = .20 or .2

got it kid? use a calculator and for 1/4 divide 1 by 4, okay?

I guess the tricky part is recognizing the slash as meaning "divided by". 1/4 is 1 divided by 4.

Have you learned how to do division where the answer doesn't come out to an integer? That's what this is.

You need to divide these out using long division.
1 divided by 4 will equal .25
.25

4| 1.00
8
20
20

1 divided by 5 will equal .20
.20
________
5| 1.000
1.0


etc...
