okay i just found out i was pregnant and i love getting my nails done but i dont know if its safe to get them done while pregnant? is it safe to go into a nail salon.. i usually go once every two weeks..?

I was told when i got pregnant that i couldn't get acrylic nails and that's all they said but i never heard that w/my first pregnancy. My friend has gotten her nails done all the time when she was and nothing is wrong w/her baby. I say go for it...if you still feel weird about it..then just don't as much or just don't do fake nails.

It isn't harmful unless you are breathing in all the fumes like every day. If the salon you go to happens to be full of the amonia smell, then just get one of those little goofy masks that doctors wear over your mouth and nose. But honestly, it won't be a problem! Congrats on your pregnancy! That is very exciting!! :-)

Phthalates found in nail polish can cause disorders in maturation of girls and birth defects in boys....although one owner of a nail salon that caters specifically to pregnant women claims that they are fine as long as you stay away from inexpert foot/leg massages at the risk of blood clots.

I dont think it is good to be around the fumes, but then again i am sure the nail techs work when they get pregnant. Check babycenter.com they have a list of things that are safe during pregnancy. Congrats!!!!

No, that's not a good idea. Those places are filled with fumes and it's not good to be inhaling it. The actual contact with your nails is okay, just not the atmosphere. Unless you can find a very nice place that is well ventilated, I wouldn't suggest it at all.

if you go to a nice salon with good ventaltion then you are fine. Skip the cheap places
