You can make a private one that only people who know her can see. My only real problem I find with myspace, is the videos posted on there. Like, if you go into the video section... there's a lot of adult content videos, even though it says videos containing nudity will be removed (they dont do a very good job with that). I've personally never come across any weirdos on myspace.

There is also a way to make it so that only people who know her last name (they have to type it into a box) can even send her a friend request

When i was 13 my mom told me i could make on if i went into account settings and set my profile to private. Then I could only add people who i knew. I couldn't use inappropriate language or be mean to people. (which i wasn't a mean person anyways) Plus i couldnt say where i live or post any personal information. Also i had to pull it up for her to look for every now and then. I would suggest if you let your daughter you go by those rules also. Good Luck.

it's up to u, in the fact that, i'm 13 and i have one i can tell you that there's absolutly nothing to worry about if you no u have a smart child, but if u still feel that it's not safe, just tell her no. but as a kid, being denided of somthing that i know i'm smart enough to handle is one of the worst feelings, so just really talk it out them, do they really need one, how many friends have one, what r those friends like, then that puts it out into the open, and they can think if they REALLy want it or not. peace and potatos ;)

look , i know you may be paranoid. but they have taken security measures to make it a fun place for everyone. Just tell her, as long as she does not post real information that can lead to someone locating her, she will be fine. there is a setting that you can add that ONLY ALLOWS her FRIENDS that she has added/accepted to see her profile. its what most kids are into. i have one myself. the reason kids get hurt or kidnapped due to myspace is because they give out their information to strangers that they have never met in person, and in turn, pay the consiquence. just as long as she knows its only for friends that she KNOWS, then she should be perfectly fine.

Myspace is ok for adults, age 18 +
kids do sneaky things on myspace and there are way too many ads on there.

13 is young - but ask yourself can i monitor her? you set the password (check it once & awhile) - make one too so you can be her "friend" - don't let her have total control.

My friend is very into it and her 6 yr old wanted one - BUT she does everything! Her daughter has NO control over it.

They have an age limit for a reason. She really doesn't need one.
