Factor the denominator. Find values of p that make the denominator 0.

p^2 + 2p - 3 = (p - 1)(p + 3)
So the expression is undefined when p =1.

This expression is a fraction, and it is undefined when the denominator is zero, since you cannot divide by zero. Set the denominator equal to zero to find the values:

p^2 + 2p - 3 = 0
(p + 3) (p - 1) = 0
p + 3 = 0 OR p - 1 = 0

p = -3 or 1

Hello

Since we cannot have o in the denominator when we factor it we get (p+3)(p-1) so -3 and 1 make these 0 and cannot be used in the polynomial.

Hope This Helps!
