Has the Burmese Python problem in the Everglades been put under control?

The Everglades Burmese Python Project is doing everything it can to handle the situation. However, it will never be truly under control until people stop releasing the overgrown pets into the wild. Remeber the old "alligator in the sewer" stories? Same idea.
