I was a passenger in a terrible car accident. We hit a tree going a little over 80 mph. It just about split the car in half. We had to be cut out of the wreckage.
I ended up with a broken right femur (thigh bone) It took a 14 screw plate to repair it.
All the toes on that leg broken. Two bones in my wrist were completely shattered.... They had to be repaired with pins, and a bone graft.
I also had a fractured skull that caused a severe concussion.

I was not expected to live through the night, but somehow I made it. It took many operations, and countless hours of therapy, but I am now pretty much back to normal.

I learned a lot in those few seconds it took for the car to crash. I learned that nobody is ever promised a tomorrow, and every day is a gift.

I had a near death experience being electrocuted, overall it was a good thing. I got to live and I walked away nearly Scott free.

Actually the worst thing was losing my love for a high risk sport. It was my all consuming passion for 15 years. To truly live is to totally commit to the thing you are passionate about. But I put all my eggs into one basket and now my life is barren.

Stage 4 (there is no Stage 5) non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which had metastasized to my pelvis/lower spine and was hella painful. Then 6 months of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation - it took almost a year for my hair to get out of a weird, peachfuzz on crack stage, but it's still not the crowning glory it was prior to treatment.
