i got this error message when i used dvd shrink and dvd decrypter. what does "failed to read file D:\" and "The Requested could not be performed becuase of an I/O error device error" it would help me out to know what these mean?

The error means there is copyright protection on the dvd that you are trying to copy. Try different software like ripit4me to get around the DVD copyright protection when making back ups of the DVD's that you own. Copying DVD's is illegal.

The drive could be installed incorrectly or, more likely, there is a resource conflict between that device and something else. Right-click My Compuer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > right-click the device > Properties > see if there is a Resources tab. You can begin finding the problem from there.

Worst-case scenario: you have to manually assign resources to the devices.

I/O = Input/Output Error. The message is telling you that your hardware failed to do something the software requested it to do.

Open disk management and change the drive letter for the CD/DVD drive.
