Hello, I am beginning a writing project about people who love and visit people in prison. I would greatly appreciate if you who email me about this at yourstory@pmt.org and share with me your story. You can be completely anonymous if you life.
How is this person related to you ? How long is she/he in prison for and in what state? How often do you visit ? Do you have family overnight visits ?Did you know this person before she/he was put in prison ? Anything that you would share would be greatly appreciated.

My youngest brother is serving time for driving the get away car for his friends escape attempt. It happened in Boone County, Kentucky. That night the inmates somehow got hold
of 25 sheets and tied them together plus cutting off one of the
bars covering a window with a hacksaw blade a girlfriend gave one of them in a birthday cake. I know it sounds crazy but, look it up. 4 inmates tried climbing down their "ladder" 2
made it to the car while another broke both legs and the last one broke his left arm forcing them to go to a hospital where they were arrested. Because of that he was sentenced to 3
years (he was out on probation for 8 months until it was revoked) . I send $$$ when I'm able and I reply whenever he
sends a letter. I doubt I'll visit him because I live quite a distance. I don't approve of anything he did but, he's still my
brother.

Yeah!

My uncle and cousins. That's right - plural. Those stinkin Mofo's don't know me until they get their @$$es handed to them in jail. How do I know those dumbasses are in there? Well, they want to collect call me to ask for some money, me to write to them, and me to buy them stuff like, get this, Tim's, cigarettes, soap. I'm like, "Look B-ah-chez! I ain't you mo'***** homegirl and I aint buying you squat." Do you think they come see me when they get out. NOPE! I start the timer on my watch to see how long before they make it back to jail. All three got back in. I should have placed a bet. Darn! When they come out, they make all of these promises that they are not going back. Glad to be out. Love the family. Blah, blah, blah is all my ears can hear. But now they are back at home --> Prison. I will not accept the collect calls either.

No, I don't know anyone in prison. I should go and visit those who are though, because I may be able to give someone hope and help them get on the right track again.
