Libs did not specifically say that. A report from some group did and of course the Bush Administration did as well. Guantanamo had torture going on and is also doing some illegal stuff, some abuses have been done to the Constitution and the peoples privacy which is why we are against the surveillance program. If there is supposed to be a war going on against Al Qaeda, then how did they build up to be about as strong as they were in 2001? By not focusing all their attention on Afghanastan from the very beginning and going to war with Iraq under false pretenses of WMDs, Al Qaeda was again allowed to rebuild their forces. Al Qaeda was not in Iraq before the occupation began there.

1. A governement document says that Al Qaeda is at the same levels that they were before 9/11.
2. It is Michael Chertoffs gut that says that we will be attacked again.
3. Anyone with half a brain could tell you that if you invade a country, you should not be surprised when its people begins joining the organzation that hates you.
4. If you think that half the stuff that Bush has done, is in the spirit or language of the Constitution. A. Turn off Fox News B. Go to your closest library read the document sometime.
5. We can protect our country by having trials for the people in Gitmo, but we cannot protect America by ignoring the Constitution. If we continue to have these violations of our Constitutional rights then the terrorists have already won.
6. Fox News and the Bush administration has bascially proven that old saying. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice.

Why do conservatives hate the troops so much? Democrats spearheaded by Jim Webb recently tried to pass a bill increasing the amount of time home between tours of duty only to be shot down by the right mostly along party lines. How come support our troops means keep them in harms way longer in an unwinnable quagmire? Face it Bush screwed us all now you try to deflect attention from the fact the greatest blunder is US history was committed by a Republican with stupid statements like Democrats obstruct every attempt to prevent another attack. You are a fool. It's sad that you can not understand that it's things like Guantanamo that provides the inspiration to young jihadists to attack the free world. It operates outside the Geneva convention. If we operate with our "enemy combatants" outside of the convention what makes you think a terrorist with a captured US soldier won't make the same justification and treat them outside the convention. So again why do you hate the troops?
As far as the surveillance program I am sorry you are not concerned with privacy or the Constitution but those are things I am not willing to give up. A final thought, lets support the troops by getting them the hell out of Iraq now!

It can be believed that Al Queda is stronger than ever.. and it is.. without wanting to keep a torture camp going.
As Americans we should be ashamed that Guataamo is still there... at the very least it should be open to public questioning.. not just a little Hell hole for Bush. Some of those people have been there for years.... either put them on trial or let them go.. give me a break.. we are acting worse than our enemies. No excuse.. I am ashamed!

You need to stop watching fox news... Guantanamo has nothing to do with stopping attacks on us soil. That's just where they torture people.. They don't want to shut down all surveillance. Just want to control it so the president can't tap the phones of anybody he wants to with no warrant... So you should probably get your facts straight... Wake up a little bit, and stop making yourself look like such a fox news political tool...

What would you advocate doing instead? Would you continue the same tactics that have utterly failed to put a stop to terrorism? They say that trying the same thing again and again, expecting different results, is the definition of insanity.

In case you missed it......
It was supreme neo-con and head jerk in the White House who said that....
And, nobody believes it anyway. He's just trying to divert our attention...Politics of fear is standard operation procedures for him and his thugs.
And, Guantanamo should NEVER have been opened.,..... And, they can surveil who they want....but they have to have a legal OK to do it.
Bush is just Nixon reincarnated.....

It's a scare tactic to keep the war going. Al-qaeda spent $500,000 on 9/11 and we've spent a half trillion dollars to fight them and according to you they are stronger. Hmmm...who won this war?

What attempt is that?
Surveillance of American citizens?
Running a concentration camp?
Letting al-Qaida have safe haven in the mountains instead of finishing them 5 years ago?
Leaving our borders open?
Trying to give our port security to the Arabs?
invading a country that didn't attack us, wasn't a threat to us, and had no ties to the terrorists?
You bet liberals are obtructing Bush's "attempts"--no on e who is a loyal American would doanythng else.
