If you have to ask your not ready.

You know when the two of you have talked about all the important issues of your possible new life together and have come to mutual agreements. You make a plan much like a business plan and know what you want and expect in a life together. It's not a decision you make alone. One day you don't wake up and say "I'm ready" and go looking for someone to fulfill your destiny. It's a lifeplan between two people who have come to the realization that life without each other seems empty. It's a wonderful goal when two people have made that kind of commitment and continue to do so when they are married.

This is a tough one, especially because I don't think there is just "one" good answer. It's kind of up there with "What makes a good marriage?"

Like anything else you make a big decision about, you should go with your gut. Are you ready or is this just something that seems good right now?
The main thing about marriage that people forget is that it's supposed to last - it goes WAY past wedding planning and bachelor/bachelorette parties.
I mean, can you see yourself procreating with this person? Can you see yourself and your future mate with white hair and grand kids?

Just think about what you really want - that's when you will know.

You never really know if you are ready, you only know if you are ready to try (and even that might not be true). That being said, if you have a legitimate doubt you should really think about the pros and cons of anything before you do it. Doing something only to make another person happy, in this situation, would not be good.

If you can do about 10 things at once and not get them confused, you might be ready.

If you consider yourself to be mature, responsible and self reliant, and the people close to you give you the respect you think you deserve, than this is the first indication that you are ready.

You never know till you do it. You only know after your there. It's a leap. If there were a single factor that would tell, I would say it's when you can put youself aside to complete someone else. Good Luck
