You think maybe that's exactly what those in power want? For us to be so distracted with bashing each other that we don't realize they're all basically the same? Because they're so preoccupied with getting our popular vote they mold in to what they think we want, corrupting their true ideals. Who's really running this country?

No. Partisan bickering is usually both counter-productive and has nasty side effects.

And yes, I'm sure there are people in power thrilled at the concept of partisan deadlock, because it allows them to control and manipulate the process much more than if there was a free and open discussion on the issues.

Hostility between any-body is counterproductive. Antagonism isn't positive.
It is my opinion those in power are unconcerned about what we think, and do not represent their constituents well. It is my opinion they are self serving. I do not think they behave the way they do in order to keep the citizenry from realizing anything. Do they have any true ideals by the time they reach their level of power? I believe they have amnesia and can not remember why they originally wanted to serve. Those in power are running the country. Keep in mind, there is all kinds of power. We have power, too. How-ever, even on this web-site, look how difficult it is to communicate with each other effectively on fairly easy issues. We are in a place in our history that our elected representatives are not promoting what the popular vote demands, perhaps because the popular vote has opinions but no practical solutions. It, of course, would be help-full to make decisions based on facts, not propaganda designed to serve the politicians desire to keep their positions. And round it gos.

I think it's a good thing for all Americans to enjoy the Bill of rights and the Constitution. Hostility is caused by those who call others stupid and do not have any facts to present. They use Stupid and other personal attacks because they have no firm ground to stand on.
BTW, debate is always adversary. No one with even half a brain would ever think Republicans will admit to any wrong doing, they will support Bush no matter what anyone says. The Republicans always put party before what's good for ALL Americans, that will never change..

I think you sort of had one part of your argument correct.

Politicians want power, and they'll do all they can to get more and stay in office as long as possible. This is why I'm sure both Conservatives and Liberals are upset with their political parties.

I actually wish a libertarian could stand a chance (but not Ron Paul).

Yep, once they get in office It is all about who can help them the most,

The lobbyist who line thier pockets are the only constituents they care about. Both parties are guilty of this.

Our political system is a joke. We need to have a poor average joe shmoe in the white house, someone who has faced financial hardships and knows what it is like to struggle in this life.

niether party gives a **** about the middle class or the poor. only who can line thier pockets the most.

this will give people a false sense of living in a Democratic country. they are basically the same philosophically anyways. also doesn't matter which one is in power, there will be same consequences or results. it is the same donkey but wearing a different saddle.

Carl Marks wrote about Leaders creating chaos between the people. Because its easier to control the masses of people if they are fighting among each other. It's when the people unit when government will loose it's power of controll.
