What really happened to this member of Iron Butterfly and how come nobody has thought to do a movie concerning his bizarre disappearance?

Well its a death not disappearance these days. There were 2 tv shows about it, one an episode of Americas Most Wanted and an episode of Unsolved Mysteries.

But on May 29th 1999 his Ford Aerostar and skeletal remains were found at the bottom of Decker Canyon near Malibu. Based on forensic evidence and a phone call he made to police on the day he vanished his death was ruled as probable suicide.
