My friend tells me he needs a "throttle belt"/"acceleration belt" for his 1991 Mercury Cougar. I don't know what this is and all searches have yielded no results. If someone could help me with what exactly I'm looking for, and maybe a place to find the part, it would be greatly appreciated.

Throttle is cable operated on 1991 cougar either 3.8 or V-8 engine. Sounds like obsolete parts good luck finding one new. Call around new car dealers Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar for a new throttle cable. Next question what caused it to fail. Look to see if the engine has a ground cable hooked up properly. The engine might be grounding with the throttle cable. That leads to early failure. Good luck
