it will turn on when i move the switch to the "on" position but when i move it to the "door" spot and open the door, it doesn't turn on. a blown fuse maybe?

Sounds more like a bad switch that has the on,door, and I assume off position. It could aslo be that the door switch is not getting a good ground or finally a problem with a wire that may be broken. Good luck.

If you are not that familiar with working with electricity, then take it to a auto electric repair shop and let them deal with it.

what happens if you move it to "off" position? check the wiring housing, maybe the wire to the "door" slot came off.
