Any ideas on what how that can be avoided? Worked around? Masked? Hidden? I don't want Big Brother to see everything I do, at least when ever they want.

As someone who is "big brother" at my company I can tell you we aren't looking over your shoulder. All we are doing is looking for the worst instances of abuse of company policy.

If you're doing something that is in direct violation of your company and harmful too them then I recommend you do it with a non-company owned computer. If you just want to check your non-business email then that's probably not being montiored.

As for working around the protections your company has put in place that really all depends what measures they have taken and without more information on what systems they are running I couldn't even begin to tell you what info they are logging on you.

Of course it all depends on who your employeer is. It can be different if you work in finance or government where they are looking for anything outside of allowed activities.

Let's make sure I understand.

You are at work. You are using the Company's equipment to log onto the internet and address sites that have absolutely nothing to do with business. You are on the payroll while you are doing this. The company has spent a fair sum providing you the pc, the network, the internet access, etc. Now you want to bog it down doing personal, not work activities.

The management, or big brother in your terms, has installed controls to prevent unauthorized use and has blocked sites because some dishonest employees have abused their internet access.

Big brother monitors what you are doing, where you are going, and what sites you are getting on and trying to get on. This is because they don't want abuse - further they don't want abusive employees.

At this time they already have your track record of trying to go to prohibitied sites and they are watching it.

In response you are spending your efforts trying to get around it. Don't you think Big Brother is able to see this?

I suggest you do these two things immediately:

1. Stop all prohibited activity. Maybe they will let this ride.

2. Polish your resume and see what the job market is like. I suspect you will need it.

Funny how employers want employees to work while at work and use company assets for company business and how they will punish abusers.

Honestly - what are you thinking? You are at work. It is called WORK for a reason.

Sure. It's called Retirement. Or create your own business, so you can ask how to keep those lazy employees of yours from using your expensive Internet connection to do their own personal business.

It just depends on what they watch for. If they want to see it, then you won't get around it.
