have you gotten an oil change? You should be changing it every 3,000 miles. You shold have gotten about 3 oil changes by now..they may have forgot to reset it when you changed your oil. You can turn this off by turning the car in the on position without actually turning it on, then holding down the odometer button. the mileage will count down by interval (starting in the 10 thousands, thousands, hundreds, etc) until it gets to 0. Since you will need an oil change soon anyway, you could just wait until you get your next change.

If it is your "maintenance" light, take it back to the Toyota dealership to have it reset (they should have done that at your last service). If it is your "check engine" light, take it back to the Toyota dealership for diagnosis and repairs. Don't worry, it will only cost you time. Your xB is still under warranty for not only diagnosis, but for repairs, too. Stay away from AutoZone. Toyota will do it for free.

Possable gas cap left loose code P0455 evaporative system gross leak. Auto-Zone will read the code for free. Any thing more complex leave the light on and your car is still covered by factory warranty and emissions warranty and powertrain warranty set up an appointment right away.

check engine is a very broad message. it can be a number of things but not limited to brakes, oxygen censors, tire pressure, low fluid....etc. once you take it into the dealer with will plug in a diagnose machine which will read the error code and translate that into what EXACTLY the problem is.

Could be something just routine, but with the car still under warranty you might as well bring it into the dealer's shop to have it checked on their computer.

it may be due for a check up from the dealership, sometimes if you get gas & don't tighten the gas cap the whole way it will cause the check eng light to come on. either way the dealership must clear the code.

Maybe you should check the engine? All I know is Scions have worse than average reliability and quality issues.

Yes, goto your local auto store and have them read it, they will tell you what caused the light to come on and how to fix it.
