There is no actual evidence that parallel universes exist. The first mention I can remember was several years ago in a sci-fi novel by James P. Hogan.
A few theoretical physicists have been turning to so-called 'string theory' (..a system of mathematical equations that employs up to 11 additional dimensions..) in an attempt to validate the concept of multiple and/or parallel universes. Others are interested in the recent discovery that the expansion rate of our universe is accelerating. Their idea is that gravity is 'leaking' from our cosmos into parallel universes, the loss of gravity allowing the increased expansion rate.

It's all hypothetical. Why don't you read up on the origins of these ideas BEFORE jumping to the conclusion that "parallel universes" have any EVIDENCE of existence?

in the beginning, re-difficulty your self to resign asserting "this is in basic terms a theory". no longer something winds scientists up extra effective than non-scientists disregarding their properly suited achievements in this type of way. there is not any info as such to help parallel universes. M-theory postulates them, yet has no longer yet been examined. To teach the life of parallel universes could be very complicated, whether no longer impossible. perchance the LHC will gain this.

No one person can claim credit for that, since it involves string theory in mathematics and a whole lot of people have worked on that. If you are interested, PBS did a great program on it and you can order the DVD here:http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/
Or if you just want a little info, try this one:http://physics.about.com/od/quantumphysics/f/stringtheory.htm
