Appeasement - (image) Hitler reaching into the cookie jar (cookie reads 'Munich Agreement') and Chamberland saying "Okay you can take this BUT don't go furthur". =P

Chamerlain's idea of 'appeasement' meant to let Hitler have a country or two and then he'd stop. Today anyone who is against any war is accused of being an 'appeaser' but that isn't at all what the word means.

I think maybe a kid with an ice cream cone (and a big smile) would visually make the point. The kid was screaming and making trouble, you gave him an ice cream cone and he shut up.

Appeasement is trying to calm an angry person down, or stop an attack, like giving money to someone to leave u alone, or giving in to their demands. How about big threatening figure (Nazi uniform?) with gun; smaller figure holding out wrapped parcel with land or money or something written on it. Hope this helps.
