I mean everyone around my comunity has heard of The Beatles and a great majority have heard of Queen but when you mention Genesis they have no idea who your talking about,(at least 90 % of the people). I mean I f*cking love their music and it really reaches me on a level that absolutely no other artists has before. From what I hear from a good friend of mine he says all of his co-workers diss Genesis snd say they suck and they haven't even heard their music!! I just don't get it! Maybe you can explain this to me???

Oh, and by the way I'm not like some fans of Genesis who choose either Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins as their favorite singer. To me I like them all pretty much equally. I admit though I do like Phil's stuff a bit more than Peter's but that's only because I haven't heard all of Peter's material. Hell, I like Ray Wilson as well! I think their all pretty kick *** in their own special way.

I like Genesis a lot as well. They have a slew of top ten hits under their belts and are more prolific and longer lasting than Queen and Dave Matthews combined!

As for the Beatles... well, they always will be the top selling rock group of all time. No group will enjoy immortality like the Beatles will, and that's ok too... they were in a league of their own during their day.

Keep enjoying the music, and forget what the rest think.

Yes, everyone has heard of The Beatles, Queen, and The DMB. But, there maybe more Gabriel-era Genesis fans than Collins-era fans. I do agree with you that they--all of them--do produce some great music. As for your question, the only answer I could come up with is hair.

when the 90's came around, pop became the leader in music...like michael jackson and madonna. So all the good rock bands became less popular becuase there were new genres of music coming out. I know who genesis is, they're not bad at all...but music has expanded so much that unless you're totally into it, it's hard to know every single band out there
it also depends who you talk to

Because they didn't keep Peter Gabriel as a lead singer and Mr Gabriel is alot more interesting and creative.
