Hello. I am on a hunt for another computer potentially (as my old one is in repair presently). Between the Intel Pentium4 and the Sempron processor 3600... which is MORE powerful? I'm thinking the Pentium 4 is, but I don't know. Also, would anyone know where to get a decent NEW computer for about $300 online???

Pentium 4 is obsolete and consume a lot of power. It is fast for media encoding. Sempron 3600+ (AM2) is not obsolete. It would be quite decent for gaming especially if you overclock it some more and pair it with a good graphics card.

Both are obsolete processors.

The Sempron 3600 is equivalent to a 3.6Ghz Celeron, so a Pentium 4 running at 3.6Ghz of faster woul dbe more powerful. But these days, if you want a bargain chip, get an Athlon... And if you spend a little more on an Athlon X2 it's well worth it.

The Pentium 4, no doubt.

Sempron is a budget processor.

for a cheap, fast, reliable computer, the best place to go is eBay. and I have had a computer running with the AMD and Intel Processors, and I think that the Intel performed faster. (although gamers and such will say that AMD is better, which it is--for gaming) but for regular computing, I would go with Intel.

Good Luck!
