Because most people fail to look beyond the appearances, they are too lazy to think. But seeming and being are not the same. It's one thing to look beautiful, it's quite another to be it.

i don't really know. Personally I think it is pretty sad for anyone to be treated differently for not meeting some universal standard of beauty. Most people who know me now don't believe that i was the 'ugly duckling' when growing up and they think I am one of the many really pretty girls who says that to get attention but it's true. i was traumatized all through grade school and high school. I always though i was pretty; just a little bit awkward. Anyhow, because of my experience as the 'ugly duckling' and as a pastors daughter, I am very conscious of how I treat others.

To answer your question, i guess it is pretty difficult to not have a bias for something that you find aesthetically pleasing. It is a trait that is developed quite young. Studies have shown that small school children like teachers who are pretty versus those who aren't. It sucks for all human beings because we are all created equal with a pair of eyes, lips, nose and ear like everyone else. We all disserve some consideration.

Evolution...survival of the fittest...it's the more perfect specimen that appears more healthy which will result in more robust offspring...its a primal response inside all of us. It's not kind but it's true.

simply because they are more confident than us. when they walk into the room they look around for competition and usually the not so pretty girl would then feel less attractive and less confident,
