I was considering a livebearer community tank but I want danios too. The tank is 10 gallons, it has lots of foliage and breeding grass from when my guppies were in that tank and it has an airstone under the gravel, also a rock with lots of little places to hide and the gravel is 1/4 inch, is this suitable?

breeding danios is semi easy, you need to have a different tank set-up if you plan on being sucessful.

They are egg stractters so you cant breed them in a livebearer set-up, well you can but chances are that the other fish and the parrents included will eat the eggs.

The best thing to do, if you really want to breed them is get a new tank. 10 gallon is fine. line the bottom with marbles and get a group of 6 danios. Allow them to grow up and pair up like cichlids. When they breed, the eggs will fall to the bottom and then you should remove the parents. O and when they pair up, remove the others.

Another way is to put them in mess, not to fine but not to open. That way they can release eggs and then you can remove the parents.

Any of those fish will breed in just such a set up, but be warned that all of them are avid egg eaters and will eat any egg they can fine, almost as quickly as they lay them. Given that, you will have few fry to survive in a community style set up. Further, the fry themselves will be targets for a meal for any adult fish in the tank and feeding the fry in a community style tank is not always easy.

All of those fish will spawn very readily once the tank conditions and water conditions suit them, it's feeding the fry that is a bit more difficult and keeping the tank clean that is a chore.

Most people that really want to breed fish in this general group (egg scatterers) set up special breeding tanks with substrate such as marbles or fine screening that the eggs can fall into but the adults cannot follow to eat the eggs. Then, after spawning, the adults are removed and the eggs remain in the tank to hatch and the fry are raised in this tank as well.

Just goggle breeding (insert fish type here) and you will get some good ideas of what the tank set up should be and what to feed the various different types you mention.

If I can help further feel free to email me.

i do no longer reccomend goldfish. they're very messy, and can in basic terms bypass with different goldfish as they make different fish unwell. i might reccomend guppies, platies, and mollies. They bypass great at the same time, are very tremendously, and function stay toddlers called fry. they're quite consumer-friendly to preserve too. because of the fact which you're transforming into a hundred gallons (fortunate!!!) you have countless room do toddlers. you may desire to in all hazard start up with 15 from each of those, because of the fact that guppies have toddlers each month, and platies and mollies are no longer a lot longer than that. The temperature might desire to be around seventy six-80°F. you will want a breeding container or containers in case you do no longer want the toddlers to get eaten, and additionally you will might desire to separate the toddlers from the mother and dad, or shop them interior the breeding container/internet. in case you in basic terms want the clever and robust toddlers to proceed to exist and advance into adults, then permit nature take this is course and go away the toddlers in there to fend for themselves. In one million month you have got as much as 3 hundred toddlers out of your fish. One guppy can supply beginning from 5-200 toddlers in one time (approximately 28 days) however the main uncomplicated is from 10-35. The extra matured the mummy, the extra toddlers she might have. Guppies stay for a pair of million-2 years, yet there will be countless toddlers to make up for that. merely continually have extra women individuals than men, so that they are not getting chased to dying. Sorry i do no longer understand extra approximately mollies and platies, yet they're very simmilar to guppies. i'm hoping you opt for them, I breed guppies and that they are my well-known fish i've got ever owned. and that i've got owned countless diverse species. in all hazard approximately 30 diverse species finished, I at the instant have 40 six fish, 3 person guppies, 11 infant guppies (regrettably the mummy died) and extra than a number of different extra. stable success and function relaxing!!!

they're not that hard...
the only problem with reeding them is that you have to separate the parents from the eggs, otherwise they'll eat it.

i suggest you move the pair when they're starting to get along... in a nice planted tank...
