I put him on a paper towel soak last night... theyre still red, how many days should It take to heal or how many days do I have before they fall off?

Did the shed skin come off with the soaking? If not, keep repeating it and use a q-tip to gently roll the skin off. Can't say without seeing whether the toes will be saved or not. It is really important that they have a moist hide at all times, as this helps with shedding and prevents this problem. The moist hide should be on the warm side of the tank.

You need a reptile vet who will give an anti biotic for the gecko. I just went throught this with my own. Good luck :)
