I've had both loser and non-loser seniors on my school bus.
I think the thing that makes a non-losers is not getting involved with conflicts- either with the driver or the other children. Of course, don't be a driver pet either!

Not having a car as a senior does not make anyone a looser except those who proclaim you as a loser for not having a car. You're going to be a senior and that alone makes you a winner. You didn't drop out. Ride the bus and if someone has a problem with that, it's their problem - not yours.

NO. If that is what they think then when I was going to high school I took my boat. Yes, really I lived on a lake. As long as the weather was good. Then I had to take a bus to school. SO WHAT! There is no reason for any of this attitude. Do you have friends who drive? In California my grand daughter has her own car and can not take anybody with her in the car except her parents or her brother. That is now a LAW. Where do you live? Those days are over, when you get out of school pile in a car and go have fun. Do you live where there is a bunch of spoiled idiots?

Loser eh. The only losers would be those who think the student who rides a school bus is a loser. Status symbols are only valuable to those who accept them. Go for best grades and educational achievement. These are what are really necessary. Your status car can come later.

That does not make you a loser. I'm going to college and I only have a learners permit and haven't taken a single lesson. I rode the school bus for the second half of my junior year and the first half of my senior year, until my mom could pick me up. It was not something the others students ever made fun of me for. It was a larger private school, so students took buses from neighboring cities and were from grades ranging from Pre-K3 to 12th grade. I wasn't the most popular kid, but I was respected, eventhough I rode the bus.

No, in fact it makes you're a winner in my book. You are doing your part to help minimize pollution. Think green. This puts a whole different perspective on riding the bus. You are doing what is good for the environment and all those others who will realize one day that they should have taken the bus!
Save your money for college or to start a business of your own. Keep riding the bus and be proud you're doing it. Anyone who makes fun of you is just trying to make themselves look big at your expense. Hmmmm, wonder who the loser really is?
Good, green journeys,
Asha

What other people think of you is none of your business.
Be pleased and happy that you're riding and not walking, or, for that matter, spending all of your money on gas and insurance.
Or you could look on the darker side, and think that your chances of getting through your high school years without being in a car crash are dramaticaly better than your driving schoolmates....
Hey, at the very least, you're going to high school, and a senior, too. Worry about the important stuff, when and if it comes around.

In my high school, students weren't allow to drive to school, so it was normal for seniors to ride the bus to school.
Tell you what kind of high school I went to:
When I was a junior, the school bus company that served our school district declared bankruptcy, and all service ceased immediately. Since many students had no other way to get to school, they drove to school the following day. Since the school had a "no students allowed to drive to school" policy, the vice-principal called the township police to ticket all the cars of the students who had driven to school! Many students were outraged, and confronted her and the police in the parking lot. The senior class president got involved and called her a "Nazi *****," and she automatically suspended him from school for 10 days! Talk about a Nazi policy! Here is how we amended it: as a passive protest, the senior class president arranged for the students to park their cars at a Presbyterian church a half mile away, and then walk en-masse to the school. Since the road to the school was a two-lane road with no sidewalks, this was actually dangerous for the students to do. The senior president had also contacted the local TV news to cover the event, telling them that since there was no bus service and if we drive to school we will get ticketed, this was the only other solution. The protest made the school administration look like fools, and driving privileges were extended to the students until new bus service was acquired. Oh, and the senior class president's suspension was revoked.
