well maybe they just wanna be creative...or maybe they realized that the name of their company was detective comics comic too late that they didn't have a choice but to keep it.
all in all, i still love marvel way better than DC anyway so it really doesn't matter 2 me

National Allied published a title called Detectictive Comics back in the 40's which started as a crime anthology series. Batman became the most popular character of the Detective Comics series and early on the Detective Comics strictly revolved around Batman as its title hero. Detective Comics Inc. as it was later known merged with its parent company National Allied to form National Comics and later National Periodical Publications. The DC logo began later appearing on not just Batman comics but Superman and all other DC comics as well. I would say yes that DC Comics does mean Detective Comics Comics even though only the DC logo is used as the company trademark.

The company made a comic book that had an entire story within it which they had named Detective comics. They then changed their name to DC and since they print comic books the 'comics' was added after so their full name is DC comics.

It was named by the same people who named Alternating current. So people now say AC current... is that Alternating current current...?
