Does anyone in this area have data on how much in electricty it cost to run such a pump.

Believe it or not, but an electrc heat pump pool heater is cheaper to run than any other system except solar. There was a study done by Ontario Hydro on pool heaters when they were encouraging people to use less electricity. The study was a surprise to all concerned. They dropped the incentives to replace electric heat pump pool heaters.

I'm not sure, however there is a pool store that sells heat pumps on Mercer in Macon (right next door to the Waffle House) that will most likely know.
