my driver's seat window was open when it rained yesterday. last night i cupped water out of my car. it took a long time. there was like two inches of water on the whole floorboard. i plan on taking it to a vaccuum place so i can suction the water out. there's a lot of water still! i didn't do it earlier. i should have. so i have to go clean up this big disaster. got any other ideas? or tips. or anything.
aside from closing the window before or when it rains.

oh yeah, the radio doesn't work anymore! i listened to it in the morning on the way to work. my car, litterally, was sloshing around all the water inside of it. was it becuase--stupid me closed the windows and left the gross water and heat to make a boiling pot out of the car? or what? because it was really hot and full of condensation when i got in it after work. uh, this sucks.

I'm wishing for lots of sunshine to dry out yo ride ---- if you cannot get to the vacuum store then put the doors open and place some fans into or aimed into yo ride this circulating air will help dry the car and it is the same thing that a detail shop would do for big $$'s --- if the car appears to be dried out and you still have steam inside in the hot weather --- it ain't dry and closing the car will be the start of mildew under the carpet and under the seats ---- big problem and it smells bad ---- YOU may need to get pro help and remove the seats and carpet to really do the correct procedure to dry out yo ride -- plus the rust factor that will occur --- how new is the car and can you afford to ignore the problem ????? good luck

Check under the mats for a drain, some cars have them, just pull the plug. The car is going to smell quite musty, I know restoration companies (Ones that clean up after floods, fires etc.) use a spray to help get rid of odors, you could call them for advice, or check hardware stores. Other then using a shop vac or something, you might want to keep all the windows open (If it's sunny LOL), I also think that the heater may work better than the ac, I know paint dries faster if it is warmer. Hope this helped, good luck!

You will have a musty smelling car forever unless you replace the jute. Jute is the padding beneath the carpet. Pull the driver's side carpet up, remove the rubber plugs from the floorboard and let the water drain. Remove the jute and discard it. Lay the carpet back down and use a shop vac on it to remove excess water. Pull the carpet back up and use a good size fan to blow on the driver's floor board and the bottom of the carpet overnite. Re-install the rubber plugs and cut new jute to fit where the old insulation was, and lay it on the floorboard, reinstall carpet, and good to go. This is how the dealers do flood repair for insurance jobs, and is the only Right way to do it.

Damn...I was gonna say close the window. Use a shop vac., you can try a car wash vac. but a shop vac would be better.
You need to get some warm air circulating in the vehicle, but not the heater on high with the windows closed, not good for you and will only help in blowing around moist air.
You really need to get the floor dry.... the carpet, padding and floor pan( floor under carpet). If these are left wet they will only serve to attract more moisture and could begin to rust out the floor pan.

try not to use anything electrical at least while driving..until you can dry it all out there are electrical or electronic sprays to hit all the exposed connections with at auto and electronics stores.
you probably blew a fuse or two.
stock up on all of them, prepare for more.
use a wet dry vac !!!!!!!!
not a regular vac or you may have more bad surprises.!!!!!!
any way to leave it open in a warm place a Friends garage ?for a few days ..
also
use your heater if it still works ..
hit it with a fan
soak it all up with towels
whatever you can to drive out the moisture

get it as dry as possible or you may need to rip the carpet..

After sopping up the best you can, use a hair dryer or a fan. Set the hair dryer on its coolest setting so you don't inadvertently melt any plastic trim.

Open all the windows and place a fan in the door (make sure you block the switch that operates the interior light or you'll kill the battery. Good luck!

Dry out the carpets and drive with the a/c on it makes a great dehumidifier. Good luck, I'd think the radio will come back; just don't use it till all is good and dried out.

if you can afford it , take it to a detail shop if not, vacuum out as much as you can and leave the windows down (however or wherever you can) until it dries out...and do it as soon as possible to avoid mildew

I can't help it..but Hah!

Ok, sorry. I would go talk to either a mechanic or a dealer of the type of car you have and ask for advice.
