blown head gasket ,water pump, craked block, thermostat
try cangeing the thermostate first if that doesnt work replace the water pump if that dont work replace the head gasket and if that dont work might have a warped head or craked engine block. check the oil first if it looks like chocolate milk its a head gasket or cracked block

Low coolant, warped heads, gaskets, the list goes on.
Is there any knocking in the engine? Coolant levels good? Any leaks under the car, inside the engine? Any sort of leaks, oil, coolant, etc.

You could have a bad thermostat, a blocked/leaking cooling hose, bad water pump, blockage/leak in your radiator, or you could be low on coolant.

sounds like you need to replace the thermostat, thats located at the end of hose that connects and seats at engine.
