According to the census breau, there are 35 million people in america classified as poor which includes a LARGE PORTION OF REPUBLICANS. For decades now, the income gap between the wealthiest, and the poorest is growing. Our nations wealth is becoming more centralized in fewer and fewer people's hands..

The whole idea of the america dream is an illusion. With hard work and dedication, the average american will not be better off than their parents. They will work longer hours, with less job security, and no retirement.

And yet the poorest republicans (maybe its lack of education) defend the tax policies that protect the wealthy. They endorce the politicians that set up policies that prevent that person from ever getting out of poverty.

Why do so many poor, protect and defend those who rob them blind?

Sorry for the typo, I dont rely on spell check to think for me... I, unlike Bush, can admit when I make a mistake...

Tons of sources out there, a decent article is : http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A56905-2001Mar25?language=printer

There are tons more, if you simply look for them.

As far as the comment, on who is to say I am wishing to steal from the rich....

What made them rich? They stole from us first. Their wealth was created from the back of the working class... the ones who work the assembly lines for the corporations. Walmart... if their prices were always low, when sam died, his wife and 4 kids would not of inheritted 18 BILLION each... That is 90 billion dollars out of the working class's pocket, into 5 people's hands. 18 billion profit from forced overtime, unpaid labor, below poverty wages, not providing health care, and over charging people in communities where walmart has become a monopoly in the area.. (low prices until competition out of business, then they were free to set prices as high as they could.) (Walmartwatch.com for one site) They currently have lawsuits against them in 23 states for labor voilations...
They stole from the poorest... and DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO KEEP IT...

most of them do not profit as the elite do, but they have been gullible enough to follow their policies

Obviously, those voters are motivated by something besides their own economic well-being. It's also clear that, rightly or wrongly, the Republicans have claimed the high moral ground with respect to a number of issues, and their image of being more patriotic, or more religious, has it's own appeal.

One way to understand our current parties is that Democrats emphasize equality, and Republicans emphasize freedom. Just because someone might gain materially from the policies of one or the other is not the only reason why someone might vote for or against them. But it does seem like the poor Republicans have shot themselves in the foot...

Maybe for reasons similar to why guys like Bill Gates votes Democratic. There are tenets of the party they agree with more often than ones they disagree with. There is nothing wrong with being a mainstream or progressive Republican. The problem is with the radicals, neocons, far right wack jobs.

The bank rolls of the wealthy are the ones who create jobs for us "poor republicans" so we don't have to live on handouts by big government. We rather WORK than to live under communist ideals...I mean government control.

Because what you say is false.

define rich, define poor, define middle class, put numbers to them

your numbers will be wrong, poor in NYC could be rich in podunk nebraska, sorry nebraskans no harm meant.

dividing america by class is communism at its finest.

is that what you hope to accomplish, turning america into a communist country.

It's the Karl Rove sleight of hand - "don't look at what we're actually doing.....which is wasting your money and giving it to our cronies.....look at this instead (insert ridiculous culture war topic here)"

Because we have principles!
Just because we may not be wealthy...we think it is wrong to steal from others.
It's these very tax policies that provide our jobs.
(I credit you with being honest and calling it "defending their bankrolls" your contemporaries would call, not-taking-their-money, giving them money.)
Milking the investors dry, or chasing them out, is not going to put food on my table tomorrow.
Do you think it's the guy making the doguhnuts that employs us?
Were it not for the job creators...we'd be a land of workers with nothing to do but shoo the flies from our filthy runny eyes.

Do you think you'd be a bigger contributor to society by doing what you do now... or by starting a business becoming successful and emloying 100 in the process?
