Talk about a "do nothing" congress. Did you know these guys are going to recess on August 6th and not come back until after Labor Day? I guess it's too hot and humid in Washington, DC during the summer.

Hey, Don't knock it. The longer those Lawmakers do nothing more the yack so much are the American People. Gosh There really doesn't need to be any laws made by these yahoo's for years and years unless it will benefit us something as lower taxes or reducing the Paperwork for filing taxes or throwing the whole tax system out and starting over.

Ya a do nothing congress is the best we could ever hope for!!!

This Congress has been one of the worst in history. Fire Pelosi/Reid.
Benchmarks would be a great idea.

On the other hand, a do-nothing congress doesn't usually do much harm.

They certainly don't deserve a raise.

I like that...everything's always the Republicans fault when they were in the majority, now it's all the Republicans fault when they're not. Typical lib drivel...always blame someone else.

US Congress always takes off for summer holidays, no matter which party is in majority.

No point in establishing any benchmarks, Bush would just veto those too.

Theoretically everyone should be glad that almost all legislation produced by Congress dies in committees. If you look at one of Congress's daily itineraries most of their day is spent on useless garbage and very rarely do they even work on important issues.

If New Orleans flooded again, they wouldn't be sitting on their asses for five days doing nothing, they'd get back to work as soon as air travel would allow.

They met their benchmarks: They're holding hearings into Bush Administration corruption, and voted to stop the war. The former is ongoing, and the latter failed because they didn't have enough votes to override the warmonger's veto. So we need 17 more Democrats in the Senate and 65 more in the House. Or, just as many as we have and a President with a brain and a heart, neither of which Bush has.

This isn't a do-nothing Congress, it's a doing-all-it-can-under-the-Constitution Congress. As opposed to Bush, who does all he can regardless of the Constitution.

The Democrats pass the bill but either the Republicans in Congress stop it or the president vetos it. How can they get anything done when the GOP is in the way of progress?

No. Maybe if 1 man with veto power wasn't shutting down the will of many people they'd be getting somewhere.

They certainly should set benchmarks and if they aren't met in a hundred years, they get the boot.

As a liberal, I'm mad at the Democrats too for their lack of progress. But it's hard when they don't have a strong majority and the GOP and president are stonewalling or vetoing every attempt they make at reform.
