If a paternity (please note spelling) is ordered by the court, then yes, you are legally mandated to have the test done.

This could be for a variety of reasons but mostly it involves child support issues. If you are an "alledged father", a paternity test would be needed to prove you are the biological father in order for the mother to pursue her options.

It can also be requested by the alledged father if there is a question as to who fathered a woman's baby.

Paternity testing is tedious and takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks to complete. If you are ordered by the court to comply, you will have a time limit and when you appear for the test, you must show photo identification. A swab of the inside of the cheek is taken and sent to a DNA processing lab. The same is done to the mother and the child in question. Photos are taken and in some cases, fingerprints are taken as well. This is all done to confirm identity so you cannot sent another person to sit in for you. Most times, all 3 parties must be present for the testing (alledged father, mother and child).

I have done many paternity tests and if there were bad feelings between the man and woman, they could be taken into separate rooms to avoid any conflicts.

Paternity. I don't think so, unless there's some crime involved (like rape). He has to give his consent to be tested.

If you claim a man is the father of your baby, you can sue him for child support, or send the law after him. He can then choose take a paternity test to prove that he's not the father.

Yes, you can be compelled to prove you are not the parent of child in a case in which the childs mother claims you are is suing for parental support, if that is what you alledge.

If you are and you know it, pony up do the right thing and support your child.

If you are not and know it what do you have to loose?

If you don't know it and don't want to find out, take proper precautions next or abstain. Be Responsible!
