First of all, the meaning of overrated is one who isn't as hyped up as people say. So in Kobe's case, many people say he is the best ever, but he's nothing without Shaq-daddy and absolutely nothing without Phil Jackson. And that's what overrated means.

So who is the second most overrated?

Yao Ming? Amare? Mike Miller? Vince Carter? Amare? Oh wait, I already said that!

P.S. I'm a Suns fan but Amare had "extra days rest" and still got whipped... Trade him, Steve Kerr!

P.P.S. When I say trade Amare, of course I'm also asking for Kevin Garnett... duh! Duncan probably would have a much toucher time against Garnett than with Stoudemire. And Garnett wouldn't be stupid enough to leave the bench or whine about playing against the best defense in the league.

Probably LeBron. He's a great player, but not to the degree that he's hyped. He's still inconsistent and doesn't usually play better in the clutch. At least his shot doesn't completely vanish in crunch time (Dirk) and ocassionally he'll get hot. He's young so maybe he'll become like MJ, Bird, Magic and dare I say it.. Kobe when the game is on the line. But the hype around him sounds like he's already in that category, which he isn't.

I think the league knows about Amare's e-fense. So he's not really overrated.

Stephon Marbury! What has he done the past 4 years, his team always loses. Vince Carter is really starting to slow down and all he does is shoot long contested threes. He looks like he really doesn't care if his team wins or loses.

Here's my top 10 overrated players in the league:
1. Stephon Marbury
2. Vince Carter
3. Rasheed Wallace
4. Pau Gasol
5. Yao Ming
6. Tracy McGrady
7. Shaquille O'Neal
8. Boris Diaw
9. Kirk Hinrich
10. J.J. Redick

I didn't put Kobe Bryant in there because he is a phenomenal talent scoring and defense wise.

Rashard Lewis just signed with the Magic for 118-127 million dollars. He should get anywhere about 15 million -20 million a season. Kobe got 17 million last season, The realgm article I posted underneath said that Rashard will get 20 million for the next 6 years. I have read other articles that say around 15 million. I tend to think 15 million is more likely. Still, he is grossly overpaid. He is a scorer pure and simple and I know a guy from Seattle who says he has an attitude problem

Amare actually lives up to his All Star label....first of all, tell me who wouldn't get whipped by Duncan right now? not that many people.

I think Vince Carter is high on the overrated list. Tracy McGrady also cannot deliver in the playoffs, I think it's more his fault than Yao's. Allen Iverson is also a bit overrated, but I think he's doing better in Denver than he was in Philly.

People will say Amare is underrated just because he's a 'product' of Steve Nash. I believe Amare is a dominant center and can be a top 5 player in the NBA.

My answer will have to go to Vince Carter. That is Jason Kidd's team, not VC's. And he is getting paid superstar money, and while having the talent to be one, he has been failing those expectations.

LeBron. I like the guy and he's good, but he's not walking on water like everyone projected. He pulled down those multimillion dollar endorsements before people realized he was not going to be another MJ.... yeah, like that's ever going to happen.
And... Yao Ming most definitely is not overrated !!! Sheesh!!!

3 tittles is not overated. I know Koe will never be on Jordan's level but he can't be considered overrated. I would say an overrated player would be Vince Carter or Paul Pierce neither has really led there team to anything.

In keeping with your warped logic if Kobe Bryant is over-rated then so Steve Nash.

Honestly the most over-rated player in the NBA is Vince Carter next is Stephon Marbury.

Kobe Bryant is definetly not the most overrated, It is Lebron James. And kobe bryant is both loved and hated, some people overrate him some people underrate him and some just keep on bringing up Jordan, when Jordan isn't playing anymore. And Yao Ming IS DEFINETLY NOT OVERRATED.
