I'm 23 and I have almost never had male friends. I have had a lot of issues with dating in the past and I think if I had male friends I could relate better to guys I date.

My problem is that I often feel like males are insensitive and will casually say things that they KNOW will hurt your feelings. (Admittedly, I am a fairly sensitive person but still.) Also, I don't understand how guys think at all and I usually get really frustrated...if I'm just friends with them, if I'm dating them, whatever.

What can I do to get past my issues with guys and be friends with them?

Try just being friends with guys you like the character of for a while, without any other motive. Then you might get to see that they're not as insensitive as you might think. Once you start to be good friends you'll probably understand guys more, then bother thinking about other stuff.

Also I think you should make a mental effort to overlook the sharp edges for a while, and give decent blokes the benefit of the doubt. (Decent blokes, that is). Guys can be a bit blunt but we can't suss girls out either.

From a guys perspective....Sometimes we say things that to a woman dont sound the way we mean them. I say things all the time and mean well and am not trying to be rude but then my wife will get upset. Once I explain to her what I meant she realizes oops she misunderstood me. So sometimes I think it is a matter of overlooking more and realizing that nobody is perfect in actions or in speech. So just relax and dont concentrate on the small things and you will be able to make more male friends.

I'm 23 and have no luck with girls either when it comes to friendships. I'd give an tooth and nail to have a nice sweet friend to hag out with. I really mean a friend, not a girlfriend (if you know what I mean). I feel a big chunk of my life is missing cause i dont have 'any' girl-friends. It'd be great to be your friend. :-)
