Getting some new fish at the weekend, And before i add them to my main tank i want to quaritine them so my current fish dont get diseased, So how long do i keep them in the quaritine tank,? I have a heater, sponge filter and some rocks and plant in the tank, (no gravel), Do i put medication in with my new fish in the quartitine tank or just water? , And how long do i keep them in quarititne?

It's best to quarantine for at least 2 weeks. I don't medicate quarantined fish except for ich, unless I see a reason to medicate. I do treat for ich for the entire 2 weeks since ich is so very common.
And ditto to Andy, it's best if you can find a shop that quarantines, but I wouldn't expect you to be able to.

Generally I leave mine in the quarantine tank for 2 weeks this is generally how long it takes for white spot to appear, one does have to remember that generally a good fish shop will have gone through the same process, however in this day and age its always better to be on the safe side. I'd keep it normal no medication and normal temperatures unless something does appear.

A week is usually long enough for any signs of disease to show up. Don't put medication in unless the fish appear to be sick.

keep them in the quarantine for at least a week and wait and see if any disease show up and if they do then medicate them or take the fish back if its still under warranty

theres no need to quarentine them all you need to do is put the bag of fish in the aquarium UNOPENED and let it flote there for about 20 minnuts then dip your net into the bag and catch the fish and put them but dont put the store water in there becuase it could have other diesase. that is if they are fresh water if they are salt water then it's a hole different story
