Alana made Super Juice, using a blender. She put in 75 more strawberries than bananas. She put in 1/3 times as many bananas as oranges and 47 more oranges than apples. The number of apples equal 5 more than twice as many pineapples. She put in 4 pineapples. How many of each fruit Alana used?

Could u show work please thanks again!!

I think the easiest way to do this is to make equations for each of the statements. First, let's define some variables to use:

Let S = Strawberries
Let B = Bananas
Let O = Oranges
Let A = Apples
Let P = Pineapples

Now, let's figure out everything we know to be true and write it in equation form:

"She put in 75 more strawberries than bananas."

S = B + 75

"She put in 1/3 times as many bananas as oranges..."

B = O * 1/3

"...and 47 more oranges than apples."

O = A + 47

"The number of apples equal 5 more than twice as many pineapples."

A = 5 + 2P

"She put in 4 pineapples."

P = 4

So, there it all is, to summarize:

S = B + 75
B = O * 1/3
O = A + 47
A = 5 + 2P
P = 4

It looks like it'd be easy to start with the bottom-most formula and substitue our way up. We already know P = 4 so we can substitute that in the equation to solve for A:

A = 5 + 2P
A = 5 + (2 * 4)
A = 5 + 8
A = 13

Now we know A which we can plug into the equation for O:

O = A + 47
O = 13 + 47
O = 60

Next, solve for B...

B = O * 1/3
B = 60 * 1/3
B = 60/3
B = 20

Finally, solve for S...

S = B + 75
S = 20 + 75
S = 95

And there it is.

P (pineapples) = 4
A (apples) = 13
O (oranges) = 60
B (bananas) = 20
S (strawberries) = 95

I know how to make Super Juice, hehe.

Ok you know you need 4 pineapples, so we will call them P=4

Then you need apples to equal 5 more than twice as many pinneapples. Since you have 4 pinneapples, twice as many is 8 in all, and since you need 5 more than twice as many, you add 5 to 8 and that's 13 in total. Apples:
A= 2P + 5 = 13

Now they tell you they put in 47 more oranges than apples. You already know you have 13 apples so 47 more would be 60; (13 + 47 = 60). Oranges:
O= A + 47 = 60

As for the bananas, you know we put in 1/3 of the total amount of oranges, so 1/3 of our 60 oranges is 20; (60 / 3 = 20). Bananas:
B = O/3 = 20

Last but not least, we need our strawberries. We know that we put in 75 more strawberries than bananas. We put in 20 bananas, so 75 more strawberries would be 95 in all; (20 + 75 = 95). Strawberries:
S = B + 75 = 95

It's a simple problem that looks harder than it is. Just needed to work backwards (start with the pinneapples and go up the list).

Final count:
Pinneapples: 4
Apples: 13
Oranges: 60
Bananas: 20
Strawberries: 95

That will be some yummy juice! Enjoy

Hope this helped

Lets use the first letter of each fruit for the specific fruit.

Let's go from bottom to top because this is the easiest way to do this.

4 = P
A = 5 + 2 P = 13
O = 47 + A = 60
B = O/3 = 20
S = B + 75 = 95

Now go make Super Juice and let me know how it tastes and the amount of electricity the blender consumes in the process (which we really cannot calculate from the info provided)!

Here is what you are given:
B + 75 = S
B = (1/3)O
O = A + 47
A = 2P + 5
P = 4

Now you are just going to make a bunch of substitutions:

A = 2(4) + 5
A = 8 + 5
A = 13

O = (13) + 47
O = 60

B = (1/3)(60)
B = 60/3
B = 20

S = (20) + 75
S = 95
