My 6 year old daughter is always losing books. Books from the school library as well as the public library. She's very well behaved otherwise, but I'd like to remedy the problem. If I thought corporal punishment would help, then I might spank her--but I'm not convinced that it would do much good. I'm leaving that as a last resort. So I'm looking for some creative ideas that would be equally productive. Any quality parental thoughts?

I have a 7 year old daughter also, what we do is we have a Manila folder that the book stays in, (we leave the folder on her dresser) whenever she takes the books out she has to sign it out and then sign it back in, we a have the due date marked on her folder, so she looks at her calendar (she has one in her room) to see if it's that date.

I know it sounds like a lot but it really helps b/c she feels that she is responsible, and it helps her follow through with her task.

Good Luck

Keep the books in your possession. Only allow her to have one at a time for a set amount of time. Say 30 minutes. Follow up and get it back when the time is up.

She's young. Give her one book at a time. Six year olds have pretty short attention spans and punishment won't help her develop any faster, it will only take away her love of books.
