I wouldn't overwhelm him as soon as he gets home with a party or alot of ppl. You two need to get reaquainted and talk and just have some one on one time. How about a night at a nice fancy hotel? With room service and a hot tub? Maybe a bottle of champagne too.Sounds romantic to me :)
Just remember that he will be tired when he gets home...and he will be excited and emotional.Give him some space if he wants it and don't take it personal.Everything will fall into place.

Then the next day you can have a coming home party or a cook out and invite the friends and other family members.Maybe have a guest book for everyone to sign and pass around disposable cameras and after the party..collect the cameras and develope the party pics..then put them in the guest book. It will be nice to look back on.

God bless our military!!!

I agree with kitkat, you probably should skip the party and opt for something a little more personal. A night alone just the two of you will probably be something he will prefer. And when the time is right arrange a small intimate get together with close friends and family only. Give him enough time to settle down and make himself at home again. It will probably feel a little strange for you both so take your time and let him share the things he wants to with you. Also go light on the dinner, when my husband got home from his first deployment I thought that he would want to eat all of the things he missed while being over there. The truth is that my husband had to slowly work his way back into home cooked meals because they weren't given that kind of food while he was deployed and their stomachs can be kind of sensitive. Most importantly let him know how much he was missed and how good it is to have him home.

I'd give him everything he missed while he was gone. If you have children, get a sitter for a couple of nights and spend some quality time with him. Fix his favorite foods; indulge him in a full body massage; go for walks someplace scenic and talk. Be affectionate, be loving but let him set the pace when it comes to being intimate. The last suggestion is because I think your husband will need some time to get his feet on the ground. He'll be transitioning from a war zone to a place the complete opposite of that. Maybe I'm crazy, but the first night or two it may be enough for him to be in your arms. Men are already sensitive when it comes to "demands" for sex, and this is no ordinary situation. Make his homecoming welcoming, intimate and comforting. Let him feel the depth of your love for him.

My wife always made my homecoming a blast by a few simple things:
-The house was spik and span (a big change from deployment)
-There wasn't a long honey-do list waiting (a lot of wives just save chores for their husbands when deployed)
-There was a really nice and simple dinner or favorite food.
-There wasn't shopping to do.
Basically, she made sure that when I came home, the house was ours to relax in for a few days and I could get used to having my wife and best friend around me again. Coming home from deployment is stressful on both sides, but the one thing that is a constant is the want to be around the ones you love. If you can clear that time for him, then there's nothing spectacular that could beat that.

Plan a nice romantic dinner before he arrives home, so when he walks in the front door he will remember all the reasons why he loves you so much. Then maybe you can rent his favorite movie or go see a movie or just hang at home. If you have kids, send them to a friends house after they see daddy.

First night home, keep it simple, depending on what he likes. A steak dinner, a pizza, a bottle of wine, a 6pack of beer and you, some lingerie, quiet music, you get the idea. Keep the party with friends and family the next day.

Romantic dinner, express how much you've missed him.

If possible get him a nice gift, something he's always wanted. (only if you got the money to :P )

After the dinner make out, have sex, let him do the things he wants with you.

He'll be more than happy the next day :P
...and maybe even make a breakfast for him the next day :P

well 1st off congradulations on his safe return. my husband returned a few months ago and the thing he enjoyed most was being home in a familiar place and spending time with me. whether you have kids or not you are his family and he will enjoy spending time with you the most. of course another big obvious thing is to have sex after going anywhere from 2-15 months without it basically just have dinner and welcome him home and tell him how much you love him and how proud you are nothing special is really needed i baked my husband a cake b/c he loves them but other than that coming home to family is pretty much all they care about

Make him his favorite meal of all time. Put on some lingerie and put it on underneath your clothes so he doesn't suspect a thing. When your done with your meal and the kiddos are in bed (If this applies) take your clothes off and surprise him with what you put on underneath your clothes. I think that would be a great surprise to come home to.

When I came back from Nam all I really wanted was good old American food and sex. Consider getting your hair done, and new make-up. Also, if it hot where you live consider getting a sexy swim suit and reservations somewhere they have a private hot tub.

Thank you for your sacrifice with your husband serving our country. You have honored those have came before.
